It is full pack of career focus based activities to go with the theme of the week, designed to be used in tutor-time, focusing on the work of different careers and helping the students understand the roles of different careers and jobs around the world. Activities include; What’s your dream job, focus week quiz, matching up old and modern apprenticeships, celebrities who did and didn’t have a degree, true or false apprenticeships and what did celebrities do before they were famous. All answers for each task are in the notes section of each activity slide, each task is designed to be completed in a fun, engaging and group based tutor time. But, it could be used for GCSE lessons. This lesson is part of a 2-part lesson focusing on Google Sketch-Up. Lesson 2 focuses on designing creations on Sketch-Up and the tools used. To get students warmed up and ready to learn... they should copy the dog! The lesson starts of by students playing a game of 'Sketch-Up Splat!' and/or creating a word search of tools. Lesson objectives and success criteria included - colour coded and includes G&T! Range tasks, including; investigation and learning the functions of the tools used; in a table. I created this resource, to be used as a starter, to allow students to get their brains warmed up, ready for learning. It is a PowerPoint, that contains thunks and questions that students need to think about to find an answer or solution to the question. They could also be used as a stretch and challenge activities or as a plenary at the end of the lesson. A good idea, would be to print these off and display them around your classroom - as this would help students to prepare for their learning and become and independent learner, by thinking outside of the box. The PPT contains 25+ thunks, each slide includes a thunk and an image to represent it. This worksheet allows students to begin to build up knowledge of who they are and what parties they belong to, what they stand for and what their logo means and represents. Students cut out the answers and glue them in the correct box. Also, included, is and extension task, taking the format of thinking hats. Positive, negative, justification and reactions. This allows students to reflect and assess their knowledge of what they have learnt during this task. This resource is designed to allow students to express and let you and fellow students get to know them, taking the idea of This Is Me from the Greatest Showman! Guarenteed to get student enagaged and excited to start the new school year… TOPTIP - Play the Greatest Showman Soundtrack in the background of student completing this activity. Students are to complete two different sides to their T-Shirt, which they cut, fold and stick to form one T-shirt, which represents them. One side is where students draw the object/answer/name that applies to them (show 1st page to students, so that they know what to do in each box of the T-Shirt). The second side is a refelction side for students to reflect on their year ahead, getting them to think! This resource is designed to support learners who often rush through their work without careful consideration of the task in hand. The resource is a speeding ticket in which you give to a student who needs to spend some more time on their work, reflecting on the suggestions of the teacher as indicated on the ticket. I then get students to stick the ticket in their work indicating that they have further spent time reflecting and enhancing their work. I issue these to students discreetly to limit other students seeing. This is also a highly effective way to implement adaptive teaching strategies as you can issue these to high or low attainers to support/enhance their focus on a particular task or aspect of their learning.
